Flies
|
We have all the flies you'll need, and they are tied to match what you will find on the river. If you want to bring your own, here are a few of the patterns you'll need.
Dries - Baetis (size 16&18)may be imitated by blue quill, blue dun, blue-winged olive, sparkle dun and Adams. For caddis (14-18) try elk hair Henryville, CDC and Hemingway. Pale morning dun (14&16) can be matched with sparkle duns, regular PMDs and cripple patterns. Yellow sallies can be matched by simulators in sizes 12-14. Trico patterns in duns and spinners sizes 18 and 20 work well.
Nymphs - the sowbug (14&18) is a primary food source throughout the year. Midge larvae and pupae patterns in sizes 18 and 20 are also good throughout the year. Gold-ribbed hare's ears in sizes 16 and 18 are good bets, as are pheasant tail nymphs, scuds, san Juan worms and RS-2s.
Streamers - Wooly buggers, marabou leaches, Matukas and black-nosed dace will get the job done.
