A guide school for guides, by guides. This guide school is taught by guides that are, and always will be, fly fishing guides. We boast a 2 to 1 student to instructor ratio and 5 full days on the river. The day you arrive will involve a casting clinic as well as how to conduct a casting clinic.
Each Day on the water will be spent:
- Learning how to safely row a drift boat for fly fishermen
- It’s not just about getting from point A to point B
- Managing your fishermen
- While fishing from the boat
- In wade fishing situations
- Entomology
- Not whats hatching, but what fish are eating
- Advanced Nymphing Techniques
- Dry fly fishing and effectively teaching the required cast
Each Night will be spent watching a presentation of a certain aspect of guiding such as:
- Resume creation and interviewing techniques
- What lodge owners want to see on a resume and want to hear
- Sample good and bad resumes
- Client retention methods
- Ways to make yourself indispensable to clients as well as the lodge
- Guiding around the world
- From Idaho to Argentina, what opportunities exist where
- Production fly tying methods
- Making tying efficient, productive, and profitable
- Entomology that affects your tying
- CPR/First Aid
- A registered instructor will make sure you leave with your certifications
Guiding is all about using your interpersonal skills as well as your fishing knowledge to provide people with enjoyable days of fishing. We show you how to be comfortable in your craft so that you can show your clients a great day, day after day, making you a valuable guide in any fishing operation. |
